Departure Day & Flight

 

Once the parents left the drop-off plaza and we had all loaded on the bus, the air filled with excited chatter of our arrival in Peru. We talked and played games for the hour-long ride. Once we reached SFO, Eva and Michael met and joined the group as we unloaded the bus and grabbed our luggage. We checked our bags and went through security without any issues before heading to our gate. When we arrived we still had plenty of time before boarding, so we explored and bought snacks for the plane ride. Boarding went by smoothly, though the process of everyone switching seats  was chaotic but brief. During the flight, some kids slept, some played card games, and some just talked. The next two plane rides also went mostly the same way (but the flights were different lengths). When landing in Lima, we were all surprised at the humidity,* and how thick the air felt, not choking at all, but rich.*
